Chapter 374: 373 Return Home

Chapter 374: 373 Return Home

To celebrate Wen Ran’s birthday, Mo Xiuchen left work half an hour early and gave all his staff the night off.

They went to the hospital to pick up Bai Xiaoxiao. The weather was warm and the sunshine was brilliant. It was five-thirty and the red sun still hung in the sky.

As Aston parked outside the Gu Family villa, Wen Ran looked through the car window at the mansion bathed in the sunset. She was filled with excitement.

This was her first time coming home.

Gu Kai said that she was taken by Fu Jingyi when she was only a few months old, right at this doorstep, on this tarmac road.

“Ranran, let’s get out of the car,” he said.

Luo Haofeng parked his car behind them. Bai Xiaoxiao was in his car. Gu Kai had been delayed at the hospital when an emergency case came up.

Wen Jin followed in his car behind them.

They all arrived together.

“Okay!”

Wen Ran gently nodded, giving Mo Xiuchen a faint smile.

Shen Yuting came out from the villa to greet them. She was wearing a beautiful and sexy evening gown, draped with a shawl. The setting sun cast a glow on her, painting a rosy hue on her pale face due to illness, making her look charming and seductive.

“Ranran, you’re finally here, I’ve been waiting ages for you. Where’s my cousin?” Shen Yuting warmly shook Wen Ran’s hand, her gaze sweeping over everyone. Not seeing Gu Kai, she asked in surprise.

Wen Ran said with a smile, “Older Brother Gu got held up by a patient’s emergency, he’ll be back shortly.”

“Ranran, can you help me get out?”

Bai Xiaoxiao poked her head out of the car, unable to get into the wheelchair by herself and not wanting Luo Haofeng to carry her, she could only ask for Wen Ran’s help.

“Okay!”

With a response, Wen Ran pulled her hand from Shen Yuting’s grasp, turned around and went over to assist Bai Xiaoxiao.

“Xiuchen!”

Kai Yuting watched as Mo Xiuchen’s gaze followed Wen Ran, she softly called out to him.

Upon hearing her, Mo Xiuchen turned around to face Shen Yuting and gave a faint smile, “Ah Kai said you were ill, are you better now?”

The simple query brought tears to Shen Yuting’s eyes. She held back her tears, a gentle smile blooming on her beautiful face, “Thank you, I’m much better now.”

Mo Xiuchen replied casually, indicating not much concern, “Good to hear.”

After he spoke, he turned to look at Wen Ran who was a few steps away. Bai Xiaoxiao had already been helped onto the wheelchair by her. She pushed Bai Xiaoxiao toward him.

“Xiuchen, I want to borrow your girlfriend for a while.”

Bai Xiaoxiao let out a laugh to Mo Xiuchen as she felt an odd sensation around Luo Haofeng and didn’t feel comfortable. So she asked Wen Ran to push her wheelchair.

“Let’s go in first, you guys follow,” Luo Haofeng hit Mo Xiuchen’s arm lightly with his own, signaling Wen Jin on the side. He then spoke to Wen Ran.

“Ranran, should I push Xiaoxiao instead?”

As Wen Jin’s gaze slid over Shen Yuting standing beside Mo Xiuchen, even though she was trying hard to hide her feelings, he could still tell that her look at Mo Xiuchen was filled with suppressed love.

“No need, brother, you, Xiuchen, and Luo Haofeng should go in first. I’ll push Xiaoxiao, we’re not in a hurry,” Wen Ran took in the villa while she slowly pushed Bai Xiaoxiao.

“Director Gu is coming out!”

Luo Haofeng was the first one to see Gu Yan emerge from the villa, alerting everyone else.

“You’re all here, welcome! Where’s Ranran?”

Gu Yan’s first sight was Mo Xiuchen and Luo Haofeng blocking little Wen Ran standing behind them.

“Uncle Gu, Wen Ran is right behind us. She’s back in her own home, you don’t need to greet her. Just greet us. Right, Wen Jin?” Luo Haofeng’s words elicited a chuckle from Gu Yan. However, his gaze quickly skipped past them to Wen Ran and he didn’t pause his steps.

No matter what, he couldn’t neglect his daughter. Even though this was Wen Ran’s home, it was also her first time coming back.

As he approached them, he greeted Bai Xiaoxiao and Wen Jin. But when he saw Wen Ran, he was so moved to the point that words escaped him.

As Wen Ran pushed Bai Xiaoxiao, she paused, looking at the emotional Gu Yan, tears glistening in the corners of his eyes. She was also experiencing a rush of emotions. As the corner of her eyes caught sight of the villa, uttering the word “Dad” involuntarily.

“Ranran!”

Gu Yan was so moved he didn’t know how to react. His typically wise and profound eyes welled up with tears.

Standing at his side, Wen Jin watched Wen Ran with complex emotions, his gaze was full of indulgent encouragement.

He was delighted that Ranran had finally met her biological father. After their parents passed away, there was still someone to love and care for her. This was a good thing.

A few steps away, Mo Xiuchen’s gaze halted.

After a moment of shock, he took two steps to stand in front of her, gently removing her hand from the wheelchair. “Ranran, since you’ve called Uncle Gu, let’s go to see your mother now. Yuting, please take care of Xiaoxiao.”

Luo Haofeng and Wen Jin were both guests and men, so it wouldn’t be appropriate for them to assist Bai Xiaoxiao.

Shen Yuting had practically grown up in the Gu family home. This was her home, it was only fitting that she should help care for Bai Xiaoxiao.

“Okay!”

Shen Yuting’s gaze slid past Wen Ran as she walked toward them.

Mo Xiuchen led Wen Ran into the villa, followed quickly by Gu Yan, who started introducing her to everything inside the villa, and led them inside to meet her mother.

On a normal day, the picture of Gu Yan’s wife would be placed in the living room where he and his son could see her the moment they entered the house.

But today, because they were hosting Wen Ran’s birthday party, the picture had been temporarily put away and moved to the second-floor bedroom.

“Ranran, let me take you upstairs to see your mother.”

Upon saying those words, it was palpable that Gu Yan was holding back his emotions. His wife had ultimately succumbed to her longing and depression because of missing Ranran.

These years, apart from missing Ranran and blaming himself, Part of the reason for his aging was losing his wife.

“Okay.”

Wen Ran nodded. She had never seen her biological mother, at least she couldn’t remember ever meeting her, so she didn’t know what her mother looked like.

Fearing that she would be nervous, Mo Xiuchen gripped her hand a bit tighter. She looked up at his gentle gaze, composed herself, and ascended the stairs with him by her side.

The villa had three floors.

On the second floor, Gu Yan and his wife’s room was on the left, while Gu Kai’s room was on the right. The room next to his had been kept for the lost Wen Ran.

Even when Shen Yuting stayed at the Gu family’s home, she was lodged on the third floor, in the guest room. Neither Gu Yan nor Gu Kai wavered on this point.

Even though Gu Kai treated Shen Yuting like a little sister, he refused to let her stay in his sister’s room. When she was a child, Shen Yuting once ran into Wen Ran’s room and immediately fell in love with Wen Ran’s toys and the room’s decor. She liked it so much that she didn’t want to leave.
