Chapter 512: 511 end
She could hardly believe that he had agreed, unequivocally, to accept any outcome.
She lowered her gaze, focusing on his burnt hand. Although no blisters had formed, the sight of his slightly swollen and reddened skin stung her eyes.
She was the one wanting a divorce, but now that he was asking her to speak, she found herself unable to let go. This internal conflict was unbearable for Wen Ran.
After a long stretch of silence, she finally spoke, each word carrying the weight of her decision: “Mo Xiuchen, let us divorce.”
Mo Xiuchen’s tall figure swayed slightly. A crack appeared on his seemingly calm face, as if an invisible knife had pierced his heart, causing a sudden surge of pain.
“Alright!”
His lips parted slightly, and the word ‘alright’ spilled out.
Wen Ran pressed her lips together tightly, trying to suppress the torrent of emotions within her. She said softly, “Bring Luo Haofeng and Qin Mu back. You can’t handle everything alone.”
“Alright!”
Looking at Wen Ran’s calm and indifferent expression, Mo Xiuchen buried all his emotions deep in his heart.
“From now on, take good care of yourself. Don’t forget to eat three meals a day.”
“Alright!”
“If you meet a suitable woman, you can try to get along…”
“Alright!”
No matter what Wen Ran said, Mo Xiuchen’s response was always ‘alright’, as if he had forgotten how to say anything else.
“I have to go!”
Unable to say anything more, Wen Ran left his office before Mo Xiuchen could utter his last “alright”.
Mo Xiuchen stayed rooted to the spot, motionless as if frozen in time. He didn’t even turn his head, his vision now devoid of her beautiful face, replaced by the emptiness of the room.
His heart felt empty too!
Just a moment ago, his face was still calmly handsome, but at the moment the door closed behind her, it turned paper-white.
After leaving his office, Wen Ran sprinted towards the elevator, went downstairs, and ran out of the MS Group building. Upon seeing her, Qing Yang and Qing Feng, waiting by the road, became worried and quickly opened the car door.
Without saying a word, Wen Ran got into the car and whispered, “Take me home”. She leaned over with her face buried in her legs, tightly biting her lip as she allowed herself to cry.
Qing Yang and Qing Feng exchanged a glance, looked back at the MS Group building, but didn’t see Mo Xiuchen coming. Qing Yang motioned Qing Feng to get in the car.
The normally chatty Qing Feng fell silent for the whole trip.
While Qing Yang focused on driving, he would occasionally look at Wen Ran through the rearview mirror. She remained in the same position, crying quietly.
Seeing this, Qing Feng frowned in worry and took out his phone to text Gu Kai.

Inside the office atop the MS Group building, Mo Xiuchen stood frozen like a statue, motionless since Wen Ran left, over ten minutes ago.
Only the ringing of his phone brought him back to reality. He took out the phone, without checking the caller ID, and mechanically answered, “Hello?”
“Mo Xiuchen, did Ranran come to see you?”
Gu Kai’s concerned voice came through the phone.
“Yes!”
Mo Xiuchen, who had been standing for a long time, felt his legs soften. He walked to his sofa and sat down. It was where Wen Ran had been sitting all morning, but her warmth was already gone.
Even the air seemed to have lost her scent.
A sense of overwhelming loneliness surged, engulfing him like a net. Gu Kai’s voice echoed in his ears, “What did Ranran say to you?”
“She asked for a divorce.”
Mo Xiuchen answered calmly, as if it was happening to someone else. His heart ached to the point of numbness.
“Did you agree?” Gu Kai asked, startled. Despite knowing Wen Ran’s decision, hearing it directly from Mo Xiuchen still left him worried.
“I agreed.”
A subtle curve appeared at the corner of Mo Xiuchen’s mouth. It was not a smile, but an expression of pain. He thought, if this could make her happy, then he would bear the pain alone.
He had completely erased her parting words from his memory, except for her saying, “Mo Xiuchen, let’s divorce”. And so, he kept repeating ‘Alright’.
On hearing that he had agreed, Gu Kai fell silent on the other end of the phone.
After what seemed like an eternity, he spoke: “Mo Xiuchen, are you okay?”
“I’m okay. I will ask the lawyer to draft the divorce agreement, and then sign it.”

In the PR Department
Cheng Jia was busy on her computer when a colleague, who had been gossiping with her in the morning, excitedly approached and said, “Jiajia, I have some good news for you.”
“What good news?”
Without interrupting her typing, Cheng Jia looked up at her colleague.
“I just came up from downstairs, and saw Wen Ran. She ran out of the company building. She must have had a fight with the CEO.”
Cheng Jia stopped typing instantly, her gaze fixed on her colleague, “Are you sure?”
“I’m positive. It’s almost noon now. Wen Ran didn’t join the CEO for lunch and left on her own. They must have argued.”
“I’ll be back soon,”
Without waiting for the colleague to finish, Cheng Jia shut down her computer and briskly left the office.
She didn’t head for the top floor but took the elevator downstairs. After confirming with the security guard that Wen Ran had truly left, she broke out into a triumphant smile.
At noon, Mo Xiuchen didn’t leave his office to eat nor did he leave his office at all. In fact, after finishing his call with Gu Kai, he remained seated on his sofa lost in thought.
After an unknown amount of time, a knock on the door pulled him out of his reverie.
He ignored it.
A moment later, the door was gently pushed open and Cheng Jia walked in with two lunch boxes. Seeing Mo Xiuchen sitting on the sofa in a daze, her heart skipped a beat as a smile crossed her face. “Mo General, I heard you didn’t go out for lunch, so I brought some back for you.”
At her words, Mo Xiuchen finally looked up. Coldness filled his eyes as he saw her approaching and he asked coldly, “Who let you in?”
“No matter how busy you are, you still have to eat.” Cheng Jia’s smile wavered momentarily but quickly returned to her face. She walked towards the sofa and placed the lunch boxes on the coffee table.
A large hand swept over, and in the next moment, Cheng Jia let out a small yelp as she doubled over, clutching her leg in pain. Her face contorted in agony.
Mo Xiuchen, the culprit, narrowed his eyes indifferently as he gazed at her scalded leg and the scattered food. He abruptly stood up.
“Mo General, it hurts!”
Cheng Jia’s voice wavered as she looked up at the abruptly standing Mo Xiuchen, her eyes welling up with tears.
The soup was scorching hot and so was the food.
She removed her hand, revealing a patch of red, even through her silk stockings.
But Mo Xiuchen not only ignored her cries of pain, but he also did not spare a glance at her leg. He walked out of his cubicle and in the blink of an eye, his tall figure disappeared through the office door.
Cheng Jia turned pale as she stared at the now empty door in disbelief. He had actually just left like that!
