Chapter 53 - 53 Applying Medicine

Hearing Cheng Fei’s words, Yin Tao and Feng Jing perked up and listened to him intently.

“This Wen An district is an old district. Other than some old tenants, there are also some people like me who are not very well-off.”

Cheng Fei fidgeted with the cup in his hands uneasily and continued, “There are many bums around here. It’s a little messy. It’s because I live here that I got into trouble with the loan sharks.”

Yin Tao felt that Cheng Fei was hiding many secrets, so she deliberately asked casually, “Brother Cheng Fei, is it true there was a murder here?”

Cheng Fei seemed to be worried that Yin Tao would be afraid and glanced at Feng Jing who was beside her.

“It’s fine. Don’t worry about it. My younger sister is brave. She won’t be afraid.” Feng Jing patted Yin Tao’s shoulder.

Cheng Fei didn’t notice Yin Tao’s awkward expression and said, “It’s true. I’ve seen the person in that house a few times. He seemed quite introverted.”

Yin Tao felt that Cheng Fei was hiding something, so she persisted and asked, “Brother Cheng Fei, where have you seen him?”

“When I was trading with Brother Nan, he also seemed to be looking for Brother Nan.” After Cheng Fei finished speaking, he noticed that Yin Tao’s expression had changed.

“What’s wrong? Do you know him?” Cheng Fei felt that the siblings in front of him probably had nothing to do with the people in Wen An district.

“I don’t know him. Do you know why he was looking for Brother Nan?” Feng Jing felt that what Cheng Fei was about to say next would be very important.

“It should be something to do with the black market. It can’t be anything good if it was associated with Brother Nan.” Cheng Fei even felt that the person’s death was related to the black market.

“What does the black market do?” Yin Tao’s tone was a little naive, but her expression was very solemn.

“Sigh, it’s all shady business. Selling blood, organs, and even human trafficking… They are capable of anything.” Cheng Fei’s words gave Yin Tao and Feng Jing an idea. If this dismemberment case was related to the black market, the clues would be much clearer.

“So, try your best not to buy a house here. It’s too messy and chaotic here. If you can avoid getting involved, it’s better to stay far away.” Cheng Fei was really thinking for Yin Tao and Feng Jing. He and his younger sister were already living on tenterhooks. He didn’t want the siblings to live the same life as him.

Yin Tao and Cheng Fei chatted for a while more before she left with Feng Jing.

Walking out of the unit, Yin Tao asked Feng Jing, “Captain Feng, do you think Sun Peng from the dismemberment case was dealing with the black market?”

Feng Jing stopped and said casually, “Why aren’t you calling me elder brother anymore?”

Feng Jing’s question stunned Yin Tao for a moment. Then, she smiled embarrassedly and explained, “I was afraid that your identity would be exposed if I called you Captain Feng.”

“Hmm, that makes sense. In the future, other than the police station, just call me elder brother.” Feng Jing nodded. She felt that Yin Tao was quite smart sometimes.

Yin Tao’s eyelids twitched a few times, but she couldn’t say the word ‘elder brother’ no matter how hard she tried. “Brother Feng, let’s think about the case. I feel that Sun Peng’s mutilated corpses are very likely related to the black market.”

“It should be related. Sun Peng might have been killed by someone from the black market.” Feng Jing walked to the car and opened the car door for Yin Tao.

“Brother Feng, your hand!” When Yin Tao saw Feng Jing’s right hand holding the car door, she noticed that there were a few obvious blisters on his hand.

“Did you burn yourself in the hotpot restaurant just now?” Yin Tao frowned as she recalled the scene of Feng Jing holding down the blondie in the hotpot restaurant.

“I think so. I’m fine. Just a few blisters. I’ll be fine in a few days.”

Just as Feng Jing was about to let Yin Tao get into the car, he heard her shout, “Wait for me, I’ll be right back!” Then, she turned around and ran across the road.

Feng Jing looked at the petite figure hopping and skipping across the road and couldn’t help smiling to himself.

Not long after, Yin Tao ran back to Feng Jing with a small bag.

“Stretch out your hand!” Yin Tao gently applied the ointment that she had just bought on Feng Jing’s right hand and blew on it.

Feng Jing felt a cool soothing sensation on his hand. He felt a warmth in her heart when he saw how careful Yin Tao was.

He had been injured many times in the past. If the injury was serious, he would go to the hospital. If the injury was minor, he would just bear with it. No one had ever so meticulously applied medicine for him just because of a few small blisters.
