Chapter 14: Believe It or Not, I’ll Tear Your Mouth Apart

The Piers’ ancestral mansion sat halfway up the hillside in Gills City, ten kilometers away from the city district yet spread across more than a hundred acres. It was imbued with an ancient charm.

The car drove into the grand estate and took another ten-minute drive to reach the garage.

Abigail exited the car alongside Brandon Piers. The mansion was already brightly lit.

The main house was a three-story building with a wooden eave. Unlike modern architecture, it resembled more of the ancient mansions found in scenic areas. However, the Piers mansion was better maintained and looked more lively.

Abigail followed Brandon along a path paved with bluestone bricks, through an arched door. Banana trees half a man’s height on either side were sprouting new leaves, and spring flowers were blooming everywhere, filling the air with a refreshing fragrance.

As Abigail approached the main house, she heard the sound of guests laughing.

“I’m going to change. The Greens should be inside. Miss Green, please feel free to roam around.” Brandon Piers said, elegantly stepping through a side door and avoiding the guests as he went upstairs.

Abigail watched him leaving. Adjusting her hat’s brim, she was contemplating how to proceed when Aunt Rose walked out, cellphone in hand. “What? She’s gone out again? Fat bitch, just gave birth and she’s already being restless again. Wait till I deal with her when she gets back!”

“Auntie, how are you planning to deal with me?”

“Ah!” Recognizing her own description as the ‘fat bitch’ Abigail tip-toed behind Aunt Rose and asked abruptly.

Aunt Rose screamed in surprise, turning her head to find Abigail behind her. A habit-bound slap was raised. “Fat bitch, are you trying to scare me to death?”

Abigail swiftly swayed to the side, dodging Aunt Rose’s slap. “Auntie, other people are watching.”

Saying this, she glanced at the scene inside the hall.

Only then did Aunt Rose realize where she was. Immediately she inquired, “What are you doing here?”

“Mr. Piers brought me here.” Abigail then attempted to head towards the hall.

Aunt Rose grabbed her arm, “Fat bitch, what are you trying to do?”

“Aunt Rose, I just want to meet the child I carried for ten months…”

“Shut up!” Aunt Rose quickly interrupted Abigail, throwing a suspicious glance around. “Cheap bitch, that’s Ruby’s child. If you say another word, I swear I’ll tear your mouth apart.”

“Then could you bring me in, otherwise… just to see the child, I don’t know what I might do.” Abigail’s voice was soft, but there was a glacial resolve in her eyes.

The aura around her made Aunt Rose taken aback. She wanted to refuse, but she was afraid of what Abigail might do, so she gritted her teeth, “Once inside, don’t make a fuss; otherwise, you’re the one who will lose face, not us.”

“Sure.” Abigail obediently agreed, her demeanour entirely different from a moment ago.

The living room was massive and bustling with guests. Nobody noticed an uninvited guest, especially someone like Abigail, who looked like an ignorant servant at first glance.

However, an impeccably dressed Ruby Green spotted Abigail at once, changing color, “Mother, why did you bring her in?”

“I…”

“Elder Piers, the young master is awake.” Just as Aunt Rose was about to explain, the old steward stepped forward and reported to an amiable, white-haired man dressed in a traditional suit, standing in the middle of the hall.

This get-together, nominally to celebrate Elder Piers’ birthday, was actually intended to show off his great-grandchild to relatives and friends.

“Alright, bring him down.” Elder Piers waved his hand happily, “And where is Brandon?”

“Young master will be here shortly.”

“The lad, always making guests wait for him.” Elder Piers grumbled, but there was no sign of anger in his eyes; he clearly had great affection for his grandson.

The baby had been brought downstairs by this point.

Abigail’s hand instinctively clenched tighter as her body turned towards the baby.

That unfamiliar but overwhelming desire didn’t come from her rationale, yet it was so strong that it was impossible to suppress.
