Chapter 471: Exchanging Blows

Chapter 471: Exchanging Blows

Along with its movements, spatial fluctuations filled the area around the blade and Shang Xia felt his divine perception in the area distorting slightly.

That wasn’t all. A low buzz came from the vibration of the weapon. The sound directly affected Shang Xia’s soul and he felt as though a bee was messing about in his mind. Luckily, his willpower was much stronger than before. Guarding his mind with his divine perception, he was quickly able to ignore the strange buzzing sound.

As he continued to observe the divine weapon, Shang Xia saw that it seemed slightly angered at the repeated provocation and a faint yellowish-orange blade light swirled in the air above the blade. After gathering enough energy, it separated from the divine weapon. A resplendent ray of orange soared at the mountain peak where the latest newcomer appeared.

This time, the blade light was a lot stronger than before. Despite the power contained in the blade light, Shang Xia was surprised to learn that it was still weaker than the blade light that assaulted him the moment he entered.

“Nice!” A trace of excitement could be heard in the newcomer’s voice and the sound of metal screeching filled the air. Another arrogant cry emerged from the mountain peak soon after. “This is amazing! Hahaha! Is this the might of a divine weapon? To be honest, it’s nothing much…”

Even though he was yelling at the top of his lungs, he didn’t make any superfluous actions after blocking the blade light. The divine weapon was eerily silent and both sides seemed to be storing energy for their next exchange.

Shang Xia was no fool. With enough time to think about what was going on, he could guess that the secret region was probably a land of inheritance left behind by a fallen power. The Abyssal Seal wasn’t just a key to enter the secret region. It was also how they would obtain the inheritance that was left behind.

The secret region that would appear every ten years might possess a strange rule that only allowed a person to enter once and was also located in a strange region like the Cloud Water Gorge, but no one knew how long it had existed. Shang Xia didn’t know how many people had entered the secret region before him and how much of the inheritance was left.

“Deacon Wei, you’re on your own. I’ll be leaving now!” Shang Xia knew that she hadn’t left and he simply left behind his final warning before leaping off the mountain peak. Flying through the air, he didn’t bother returning to the peak he came from. Instead, he went in another direction. There was another mountain peak poking out from the sea of clouds and it was barely 1000 feet from him.

Because of the experience he had when flying over to Wei Qiongyi’s location, Shang Xia understood that as long as the region could be detected with his divine perception and sense of sight, there shouldn’t be much of a risk for him to head over. At the very most, he would have to use up some of his Four Constellation Qi to counter the suppression he felt.

The heaven and earth qi in the secret region was a lot denser than the outside world. It was even better than the Cloud Water Gorge. The Cloud Water Gorge was already a superior cultivation ground when compared to many other regions in the outside world if they could disregard the dense fog and frequent spatial shifts. As such, it wasn’t difficult to understand that the secret region could truly be considered a blessed land?for cultivation.

Watching Shang Xia’s leaving figure, Wei Qiongyi’s expression flickered unsteadily. She gnashed her teeth eventually and decided to watch how things played out. However, she didn’t forget Shang Xia’s warning. She decided to head down to where the mountain peak was starting to peek out from the sea of clouds so that she could escape the moment things turned ugly.

Unfortunately, the situation changed before she could make her way down.

Turning her head to stare at the other mountain peak in fright, she saw a tiny silver hammer rising through the air. Instead of going for the divine weapon, it went straight for Shang Xia who was still flying through the air.

It seemed as though the newcomer had already discovered Shang Xia’s existence and wanted to get rid of the competition before carrying out his plans.

The silver hammer descended at a terrifying speed and it seemed even stronger than when it stopped the divine weapon’s blade light earlier.

From the looks of it, the newcomer had already detected Shang Xia and very possibly Wei Qiongyi. Thinking back to the way he blocked the blade light earlier, he seemed to be trying to confuse Shang Xia about his true strength.

Both Shang Xia and Wei Qiongyi weren’t fools. They quickly reached the same conclusion.

Wei Qiongyi, who was originally planning to try her luck by staying in the secret region a little longer, no longer entertained her delusions. She hastened her footsteps as she ran towards the sea of clouds. She didn’t forget to stare at Shang Xia while she was running down as she was both worried and curious about how he would deal with the incoming danger.

Shang Xia had already crossed more than half the distance to the other peak. Because he was starting to master the way to rotate his extermination origins, his consumption of inner qi wasn’t as terrifying as others might think.

The more he understood, the stronger his foundations became. Shang Xia had been thinking about how he should develop his rank four martial arts and he knew that he created a general outline when he released the palm to destroy the Jingxiu Peak’s protection barrier not too long ago.

Even though he was in mid-flight and had used up a portion of his inner qi, he wasn’t exactly helpless when the silver hammer crashed down towards him. Back when he decided to fly over to the other peak, the worst case scenario had already run through his mind.

As the silver hammer stored through the skies and passed the mountain peak the divine weapon was on, the void itself seemed to distort. The distortion only became worse as the silver hammer came crashing down on Shang Xia.

Stopping in his tracks, Shang Xia stood firmly in the air as the Scarlet Star Spear appeared in his hand. He was extremely confident that the explosive strength of his extermination origins would allow him to block the hammer once he unleashed his Nine Providence Spear.

Watching the space ripples travel faster than the hammer, Shang Xia understood what the other party was trying to do. With the immense power contained in the silver hammer and the rippling space, the Martial Extermination Realm expert who just appeared wanted to force Shang Xia away from the mountain peak he was heading towards! It was even possible Shang Xia would be forced beneath the sea of clouds, pushing him out of the secret region entirely.

That only made Shang Xia even more sure of his guess that the mountain peaks around the divine weapon were what he should be heading for. The space there should be relatively more stable than the mountain peaks that were further away. Like Duan Liufeng, if Shang Xia got a little too far, he would probably disappear from the secret region.

Shang Xia barely managed to make sense of things after his experience in the secret region and the action of the Martial Extermination Realm expert who just entered, but it seemed as though the newcomer was already familiar with everything there.

At the crucial moment, Shang Xia’s Scarlet Star Spear trembled. Surprisingly, he released his Void Evasion Spear instead of his other moves. What was even more surprising was that he didn’t aim his move at the silver hammer that was falling on his head. Instead, he stabbed at the mountain peak he was aiming for earlier.

Before the spatial ripples from the hammer could reach him, Shang Xia’s Void Evasion Spear turned into a streak of light that pierced a hole through the mountain peak he was flying towards earlier.

Shang Xia no longer needed to hide his cultivation level and aura now that things had progressed so far. A four colored extermination light appeared beneath his feet and they flickered unsteadily before squeezing into the void passage he created with his Void Evasion Spear a second ago.

As his Four Seasons Extermination Origins surrounded him, a spatial tunnel that was wide enough for him to pass through appeared and he quickly stepped into it.

It took a long time to describe what happened, but everything happened in the blink of an eye. The silver hammer quickly arrived after the spatial ripples and smashed heavily into the location where Shang Xia once stood. A massive crater appeared in the sea of clouds beneath him and a strange phenomenon flashed by at the bottom of the crater.

The clouds started to churn from the impact, but the crater quickly disappeared.

Despite the violent fluctuations in the void, it failed to force Shang Xia out no matter how hard it tried.

Shang Xia’s disheveled figure stumbled out from the void several feet above the mountain peak his Void Evasion Spear pierced through and he turned to stare at the twisted space where he once stood. A trace of fear lingered in his heart.

He was a little too stunned by what just happened, but he didn’t realize that Wei Qiongyi and the Martial Extermination Realm expert who was plotting against him was equally as surprised to see the four colored extermination light that surrounded him earlier. That wasn’t all. Their shock only became more exaggerated after he passed through the void to avoid the attack.

Regardless of what they thought, there was only a single thought in Shang Xia’s mind.

You asshole! I won’t be a man if I don’t respond in kind!

He disregarded the fact that he exhausted a huge portion of his inner qi after what he had done earlier. He might be experiencing a bout of weakness at the moment but he didn’t hesitate to push his Four Constellation Qi into his Scarlet Star Spear before stabbing towards the newcomer.

As he unleashed Startling Moon, the eighth move of his Nine Providence Spear, the skies above them lit up.

Shang Xia’s spear struck accurately at the silver hammer in mid air.

Shang Xia was also equally adept at stirring up the void in his attacks. In fact, he had a lot of experience doing it.

Since the silver hammer could resist the blade light from the divine weapon, Shang Xia would be a fool to not understand that it was a special weapon. If he was able to send it away, he would be able to weaken his opponent even if he didn’t immediately injure the other party.

The person clearly didn’t expect Shang Xia to counterattack so quickly and decisively.

Even though the newcomer wasn’t an ordinary expert, he wasn’t able to react quickly enough. Shang Xia’s spear struck the silver hammer, forcing it to fall directly on the mountain peak where the divine weapon was located.

With things progressing out of hand, the Martial Extermination Realm expert who had attacked Shang Xia roared as a three colored extermination light emerged to form a giant hand. It quickly reached for the silver hammer in an attempt to recover his weapon, but his actions evidently provoked the divine weapon. Even though Shang Xia was still standing quite a distance away from the mountain peak where the divine weapon was located, he noticed a strange spatial fluctuation that destroyed a portion of the energy contained in the giant hand as a yellowish-orange blade light started to emerge. Along with violent vibrations from the divine weapon, the blade light sliced in the direction where the giant hand emerged.
