Chapter 90: Chapter 50 Retest Begins
[Students participating in the re-examination, please turn right and go straight to Star Heaven Hall, the building with the star symbol at the top.]
[Most areas within the academy are not open to the public, we ask for the understanding of students attending the re-examination.]
[For dining and resting, you can go to the Blue Porcelain Mansion on the south side of Star Heaven Hall, a large hotel exclusively for visitors from outside the academy.]
[If you get lost on campus, or need assistance, you can connect to the GI835 channel to ask.]
...
Although the contents of the notice board were fragmented, they essentially covered all common questions, which reassured Hexia considerably.
The ground inside the campus was made of pure white assembled floorboards, using high-quality Bright Moon Stone. This type of stone was extremely easy to clean, and it was durable and shiny, making it very popular among the Federal Upper Echelon.
On both sides of the road, flowers and lawns could be seen everywhere. The hanging iris street lamps adorned the environment, and the campus was especially spacious. The distance from the school gate to Star Heaven Hall was about one kilometer, and the main thoroughfare could accommodate eight hover cars side by side with room to spare.
Walking past seas of flowers and dense tree shades, at last, Hexia arrived in front of Star Heaven Hall. This tall white building was exceptionally grand, resembling a giant\'s abode, flanked by white knight statues at its entrance.
The knights held shields in one hand and long halberds in the other, standing opposite each other. People walking by them were not even as tall as their feet and could only look up at these tall, carved knight statues.
Inside the vast hall, the floor was laid with deep blue tiles, resembling a starry sky. These clear, deep blue glass tiles twinkled with specks of silver light, with each tile bordered by brilliant golden seams. As one walked over them, it was like strolling through the Milky Way.
Although the grand doors of the hall were already open, the students who came for the re-examination did not enter but stood under the enormous door, gazing at the splendid scenery inside. The walls of the several-dozen-meter-high dome were inlaid with colorful, light-transmissive glass that pieced together patterns, narrating the stories of heroes from ancient legends, and on the innermost wall of the hall were life-sized paintings.
An angel with luxurious wings spread her arms, her eyes closed, dressed in a light blue gradient gown, with golden hair and seven dazzling morning stars above her head. The background beside her appeared like the dark expanse of space, with the glow of star dust twinkling faintly.
It was said that this was an ancient angel painting handed down through the ages, but its real name was unknown, enlarged and reproduced in this hall by the founder of Yuanting Academy.
The girl climbed the steps, and after half a minute, she finally stopped in front of the great door. Just as she wondered why the students here did not go in, a somewhat crisp voice rose in front of her.
A girl wearing a special student uniform stood in front of the door, and behind her was a row of companions in white uniforms. These students from the academy stood in front of the door, temporarily preventing the other students present from entering.
Seeing that the number of people had gathered, the girl in the red and black uniform took a step forward, her golden-red eyes sweeping over the entire crowd.
"Your re-examination journey will officially start from this Star Heaven Hall," she said.
As she spoke, the silent hall echoed with the sounds of an orchestra, lending her words a magnificent resonance that instantly overwhelmed the various discussions and conversations in front of the giant door, and the scene quieted down at once.
"As the student council president and valedictorian of this year\'s Yuanting Academy, I sincerely offer you my support." She pressed her hand lightly to her chest, then closed her eyes briefly before opening them again.
"Those of you who have received a notification from Yuanting Academy and made your way here, I believe that mere knowledge and theory are no longer your obstacles, and the companions our academy seeks are not just that."
"Every academy has its own style and characteristics, and what we at Yuanting value most is \'bonds\', that is, the trust and unity among lives that transcends material things."
"I know it\'s unrealistic to expect you all to get acquainted and form teams in such a short time, and right now you are still in competition with each other, so—" She paused slightly, then clapped her hands.
"Our academy has prepared partners in advance for all of you participating in the re-examination," she announced.
As her words fell, the tall hall within released orbs of various colors from the dome above, levitating and drifting within the space, each containing a blurry little figure within.
"Within these orbs lie Transcendent creatures of Sequence 2, which have already undergone preliminary training, understand simple commands, and hold favorable dispositions toward humans."
"Please come forward one by one, place your hand on this square platform, release your intentions, and the companion suited for you will descend to become your temporary partner. They will be key to your success in the re-examination."
"Let\'s begin now!" .net
Having said this, she stepped aside, and the white-clad companions behind her divided into two rows, standing to the left and right of the gate, revealing the white stone platform placed at the main entrance of the hall.
"Wow, interesting." Some students looked at the floating orbs inside the hall with keen interest.
"Is this like a Divine Beasts showdown?"
"It doesn\'t seem that simple."
"Trust, huh? Seems there\'s some sense to it."
"I don\'t believe that simple trust is enough to pass; there\'s probably a real test hidden within."
The voices of various discussions came from around, and Hexia, with her keen perception, inadvertently heard them all.
"Bonds and trust…" She pondered briefly. Although she knew what these words meant, it felt like things were not that simple.
Take one step at a time, she followed the others and came forward one by one.
"O\'Conner, from the Northern Fifth District." A boy in black briefly introduced himself, then stepped forward and placed his hand on the stone platform.
Many symbols emerged on the stone platform, followed by a flow of radiance that spread from the ground into the hall, rippling like waves of water.
A dark cyan, nearly black orb then descended, drifting towards the boy. When it landed on the stone platform, the orb cracked open to reveal a slumbering young wolf-like beast within.
Its fur was as black as hardened spines, with scarce amounts of dark cyan distributed on its legs, forehead, and shoulders. When it awoke, it revealed dark red eyes. It first bared its teeth and looked around, then eyed the boy in front of it and rubbed against him slightly to express friendliness.
"Are you my partner?" The boy\'s words seemed to carry both joy and surprise; he picked it up and was then led to the other side of the hall by a white-clad member.
"Next student, please."
Following him, a girl in a golden dress came forward, and after the same action and silent chanting, a metallic-colored sphere descended, revealing a golden scorpion within, armored with a tough exoskeleton.
"Though it\'s a bit ugly, the color is to my liking." The girl extended her hand, letting the scorpion climb up, then also walked to the side of the hall.
"She\'s quite bold, isn\'t she? I wouldn\'t dare to touch a scorpion if it were me," someone muttered quietly.
"I hope what\'s left for me is a cute little animal."
The students went up one after another, and slowly, it was finally Hexia\'s turn.
"Hexia, from the Northern Seventh District." She spoke simply, then proceeded forward under everyone\'s gaze.
She covered the stone platform with her hand and then closed her eyes to listen quietly, her perception seeming to wind through the stone slabs into the interior of the hall. Soon, a variety of lively, distinct lives emerged in her sea of consciousness, and she \'saw\' many different Transcendent creatures.
Which one should she now choose?
Unlike the passive choices of others, Hexia could almost establish connections with all the orbs, which left her mired in the difficulty of choice.
