Chapter 68: SpellCraft
By sacrificing the durability of his projectile he could make it even sharper as if he were using shards of glass to contain nitroglycerin.
Unlike normal glass he could shape the mana to be a dangerously sharp object and make it into a container without destroying its integrity.
He had a spell in mind but the amount of mana needed would ruin what he planned.
To recreate the way he destroyed the radiant wolf he would have to start from the ground up rather than using his previous spells he realized.
He started by creating a needle made from mana, this time he made it as thin as possible.
He could create such needles effortlessly and firing them at the trees showed how they were mostly ineffective for more than spreading elemental effects.
He began to shape them further to try to create a projectile that could actually cause damage and maintain sharpness while being very cheap to create.
Eventually he made a needle that would use approximately five mana to create the right balance of sharpness and speed but he had severely sacrificed on damage.
His damage per needle was one tenth of tbe damage that he could do with a normal nova needle but he didn\'t care because this would only be one needle in a barrage.
Since the damage was one tenth of his normal damage he decided to start by trying to create ten needles in one move.
He found that the easiest way was to channel the mana to each of his fingers and then create two needles at once.
Fifty mana for a full damage attack was quite good but he could do better.
He tried to remember that feeling he had when he was creating mana projectiles on the air so quickly that it felt like a spell.
He brought his wings and tail around like he had done before and he began to channel his mana through his mana veins to find every single place that made it easier to create the projectiles.
He did learn something fascinating by doing this.
His tail could channel more mana than any part of his body while his wings had the most surface area where the mana veins had been created.
If he could create the needles by using his wing membranes then he could created hundreds of needles using his mana.
With his maximum mana he could create eight hundred and eighty needles in this way but he wanted to focus on damage now.
He realized that by thinking about the shape he wanted while channeling his mana through his mana veins he could imagine every needle forming the same way, it was harder than creating the needles individually but he would be able to focus on more of them at once unlike before.
So he began to create a spell that he knew would become his most used damage option as a mage.
Eventually he had created it.

Congratulations!
You have created a unique spell, please name it.

A player has successfully created a unique spell for the first time, distributing rewards.
Title: Spell Crafter
Unique chest.
~~~~~~~~~~
When he saw this he was ecstatic, another unique chest!
He would be able to do many things with three pieces of unique gear.
When he finished reading he checked his new spell which he named Frenzy Wing after something from a retro game he had played from his mom\'s collection.
~~~~~~~~~~
Frenzy Wing lv1 (L)
A spell composed of over a hundred projectiles made for very high penetration and speed with a core of volatile mana to finish the projectile inside of the target.
~~~~~~~~~~
When the spell was made he could cast it faster through the system but no matter what it would have a one second channeling time.
With the spell cast he could fire the projectiles anytime he wished and simply had to make sure he aimed.
He could swing his wing out and needles would be able to fire in wide ranges following the slash of his wings.
He even practiced their defensive value but was quite disappointed when his wing got injured more than the actual target that looked like a porcupines victim after their clash.
After his little experiment he went on to check his new unique reward chest.
Inside was obviously the same unique reward as before but the thing he was truly curious about was his optional reward.
~~~~~~~~~~
Skill improvement scroll
Elemental affinity scroll
Creature taming scroll
Bloodline awakening scroll
~~~~~~~~~~
When he saw the reward options he was a bit mixed in his desires.
Gaining a fourth affinity would be amazing.
Gaining another bloodline awakening would be even more incredible.
Gaining a skill improvement could even push one of his stagnant skills to the next grade.
He could potentially upgrade the mana core beyond the legendary grade and see if his core would increase his mana capacity beyond 100% base value.
The more he thought about it the more he felt that he was being greedy though, he had allies now and they would have gotten reward options too but unlike them he had two more unique items and another reward such at this.
He decided that he would go and tell Layla about it to see if she would like to choose a reward for either herself or her team.
~
Layla was breathing hard and trying to keep up with the demoness that had chosen to train her.
Currently they were training a movement skill she called Abyss Walk but she couldn\'t quite get it right to make the skill activate.
She had been practicing all this time on this skill as the others had been so easy to figure out.
"Abyss Walk is a higher grade skill but you will figure it out, you have to feel your connection to the abyss though, feel the fire burn inside of you and let yourself move through our home."
She tried to follow it and she interpreted it as using her fire affinity and her mana in addition to her stamina to dash.
She couldn\'t get them to blend properly and just ended up stirring her mana up while sprinting forward.
She kept trying until her stamina was drained and then she finally felt some idea of what she was missing.
She tried to use her mana to push herself forward this time rather than actually trying to enhance her body like before.
What happened was her body moved rapidly rather than rushing forward.
Skill learned: blink lv1 (A)
~~~~~~~~~~
"Oh you learned the inferior technique used by normal warriors... I suppose every path has to start somewhere."
As they were settling down for a break they heard rustling, from the trees came Ezekiel.
When she saw him her thoughts went back to him being called her mate and she began to burn up again.
Her bloodline did bizarre things that she felt were incredibly inappropriate but even at their first meeting she felt extremely uncompromising around him because of what her bloodline caused.
She hated it, she hated that just because the game was exclusively for adults such a thing could be given.
When she saw that he was approaching she quickly jammed her claws into her palm to focus her thoughts and smiled.
"Hey Layla i wanted to ask you if you or the others might want one of the unique chest optional rewards?"
She thought about it and was actually surprised by this offer.
From her own unique reward she had obtained an incredible set of armor and a scroll that increased the grade of an item.
She had used this scroll to make her gold quality long sword into a mythril quality!
\'He\'s just going to give us something like that?\'
"No you should use it, your survival is in danger right now remember? You need to make yourself stronger."
He frowned at her reaponse and just nodded before opening the chest.
From within he took out a scroll and a robe that looked like black snake leather with silver melted into it.
It was hard to tell what was metal that had been added and silver that came from the leather.
He put the robe on and then activated the scroll.
She didn\'t really know what he had selected but she could feel mana surging through the area.
"Oh my, his core is evolving."
She turned to the demoness with a look of confusion which made her laugh.
"When a mage grows their core to the peak of the legendary rank they can evolve it to the supreme rank, once a core reaches the supreme rank that is when it evolves into a mana gem."
She turned to look at him with a laugh.
"Normally it takes a lot of effort and mana to do it but his reward must have started the process."
"Well what does that mean? Is it a good or bad thing?"
The demoness turned to look at him with a hard expression.
"There\'s no way to tell. What decides a gem\'s quality is the one who made it, their bloodline, their potential, everything is apparently a factor for the gem quality. Most just say that if you take to long starting the process or dont have enough mana in the area then you hinder the potential result."
When she heard this Layla was worried, because the mana here was pathetic compared to the dungeon.
