Chapter 25 Awakening I

"You\'re here at last! We\'ve been waiting for so long."

"Yeah, what took you so long?"

Arthur turned to find his mother, Iliyana, along with Elona and Elena, already seated inside, waiting.

Lucious chuckled. "Well, someone unexpected arrived, so I had to handle it myself."

"Who could be important enough to hold up the Duke?" Elona asked, curious.

"The Saintess of the Light Church," Lucious replied with a smile. "Does that sound important enough?"

"The Light Church has a saintess?" Iliyana asked, surprised.

"Yes, she turned fifteen last month and awakened to her role as saintess. The news hasn\'t been announced publicly yet, but it will be soon," Lucious replied.

"Oh? But why is she here?" Elona inquired.

"Apparently, she possesses a rare skill that can reveal if someone is connected to demons," Lucious explained.

"There\'s a skill like that?" Elena chimed in.

"Yes. She calls it Mana Sight. It allows her to see the mana within a person. Even if a demon disguises itself as human, its demonic mana cannot be hidden," Lucious replied.

"That\'s certainly fitting for a saintess," Iliyana remarked.

But Arthur, knowing the game\'s world better than anyone, thought it was not as simple as they thought.

As a former player, he understood the true potential of Mana Sight. Beyond just identifying demonic energy, it could assess the quantity of mana within someone, gauge a mage\'s strength, and reveal the type of magic they specialized in. With enough training, she could even predict the spells being cast just by observing the mana flow during casting.

It was an incredibly overpowered skill, but, for now, she only used it as a demon detector, unaware of the immense potential lying dormant within her.

Arthur snapped out of his thoughts as Elena\'s impatient voice broke the silence.

"Should we get started? It\'s already late," she urged.

"Now, now, don\'t be so hasty," Elona chided gently. "This is a once-in-a-lifetime event."

"True enough," Lucious agreed. "But we shouldn\'t delay any further. Did you bring the aether crystal?"

"Yes, I\'ve already prepared it," Elona replied, reaching for a box she\'d set aside. Carefully, she lifted the lid, revealing a crystal pulsing with a powerful blue glow.

"Arthur, this is the Aether crystal," Lucious explained. "Simply place your hand on it, and it will invoke the aether within your body."

He continued, "If you find yourself transported to a different place upon touching it, don\'t panic. It could be the sanctuary of a god bestowing divinity upon you. Most likely, it will be Ares\'s sanctuary, as he has granted divinity to the Ludwigs for generations. You\'ll see towering stone walls adorned with battle-scarred murals depicting great warriors and legendary battles.

Statues of formidable warriors will stand guard, their expressions fierce and proud, while the ground is littered with the remnants of war—broken weapons, shattered shields, and fallen banners."n/o/vel/b//in dot c//om

"In the middle, you\'ll find an altar piled high with offerings—swords, shields, and spears. Before it stands a colossal statue of Ares, clad in intricate battle armor, fierce and imposing. Kneel before the statue and present your offerings. In return, you will receive a fragment of divine energy, and your consciousness will return."

"Understood, Father," Arthur replied, steeling himself as he stepped forward and placed his hand on the crystal.

While Arthur underwent his awakening, the servants, maids, and knights of the Ludwig mansion gathered in the banquet hall, murmuring among themselves in confusion. Early that morning, they had received an order to assemble, with strict instructions that no one was to leave without permission.

As they looked around, they realized it wasn\'t just them—every member of the household was present except for the Lord and his family.

Suddenly, the door swung open, and the eldest son of the lord, Master Adam, strode into the hall. He was not alone; beside him walked a beautiful, elegant lady who radiated an aura of holiness. The servants exchanged glances, wondering if Master Adam was preparing to marry for a second time like his father. But that thought quickly faded.

Behind them, several figures clad in silver armor entered, each adorned with the symbol of the Church of Light. Their imposing presence commanded attention.

Adam walked up to the high stage, commanding the attention of everyone in the hall. "Greetings, everyone. I know you might be confused about what\'s happening here, but I assure you there\'s nothing to worry about. You don\'t need to do anything. This lady here is our guest. Whoever she points to will stay here, while the rest can leave."

"UNDERSTOOD!" Adam declared.

"YES!" the assembled crowd responded in unison.

"Good," he said, satisfied. Turning to Alicia, he gestured for her to join him on the high ground, where she could see everyone gathered below.

Alicia nodded and walked up to the podium. As she prepared to use her skill Mana Sight, her eyes glowed with a golden hue.

To Alicia, the room transformed. People became silhouettes of mana, each a unique hue representing their magic affinity: red for fire, blue for water, yellow for earth, and more. But among these, she saw dark, ominous auras—demonic mana.

But amidst this vibrant spectrum, a few individuals stood out. Their mana was drastically different—dark in color and exuding an ominous aura. This was not the typical darkness attribute; it was something far more unsettling.

With a steady hand, Alicia pointed to the individuals possessing this dark mana, identifying them as the source of her concern.

As Alicia focused her gaze, she noticed two maids among the crowd, each surrounded by dark-colored mana. However, unlike the others she had identified, their mana did not emit any dangerous or corrupted aura; it appeared much like any normal mana associated with the darkness attribute.

Her ability to see the true nature of mana allowed her to differentiate between the ominous dark mana she had sensed and the more benign darkness attribute of these two maids. It struck her as surprising to find anyone with dark mana, as they were often ostracized and regarded as evil in society as their dark mana is often mistaken for demonic mana.

What was even more unusual was how similar the two were. These were, of course, the twin assassins, Lira and Lyra. Being twins, their mana also bore a striking resemblance. They possessed shadow attribute mana, a subcategory of darkness, which often led to misunderstanding and prejudice against them.

As Alicia pointed out each demonic presence, paladins stationed in the room stepped forward, ready to act. Once the selection was complete, Adam addressed the remaining servants. "Everyone else is dismissed; only those who were indicated should remain."

The rest of the staff quickly filed out, leaving twelve servants and five maids behind, their faces pale with fear and confusion. One of them, visibly shaken, managed to ask, "Young master, what\'s going on?"

"You\'ll know soon enough," Adam replied curtly, giving a signal to the paladins. With a single, fluid motion, the paladins drew their swords and struck down the marked individuals. As the bodies fell, their true forms emerged—twisted, grotesque, with scales, horns, and dark blood oozing from their severed heads, unmistakably demonic.

Adam turned to Alicia and gave a slight bow. "Thank you for your help, Lady Alicia. Thanks to you, this was handled swiftly."

Alicia inclined her head humbly. "It is my duty as Saintess to eliminate evil. No need to thank me."

"You\'re too modest," Adam replied, his tone respectful. "Now that this is done, would you like to rest? Using Mana Sight must be taxing."

Alicia hesitated but nodded. "If it\'s no trouble, I would appreciate it."

Adam gestured, leading her and her knight, Althea, to a guest room. Then he returned to meet Gideon, who was organizing the remaining paladins to sweep through the city, ensuring its security.

The palace was finally clear, and the demons were eradicated. And in the inner chamber, Arthur\'s awakening was about to begin.
