Chapter 161

“What? Wu Jinhai told you about it? But how? I thought you only met him once, so how did he tell you about it? And when did you meet him?” Bai Chen immediately attacked Zhu Ge with a series of questions without a break.

It was confusing for him. First, he assumed that Zhu Ge looked similar to Wu Jinhai somehow, and Zhu Ge told him that he did know Wu Jinhai.

Not only that, but Zhu Ge also said that he had the opportunity to meet the eldest Prince of Wu Li in person, and the man even said that he was lucky for it.

Bai Chen thought that Zhu Ge had only met Wu Jinhai once, but judging by the way the man casually mentioned the Prince’s name, Bai Chen wanted to change his opinion. Perhaps Zhu Ge and Wu Jinhai did have a relationship with each other.

“I never said that I only met Wu Jinhai once,” Zhu Ge finally dared to look at the Werewolf Prince again, and he could even chuckle as if forgetting that he was anxious just a moment ago. “Actually, I’m quite close to Wu Jinhai, and we even talk to each other when we have some free time. Before I arrived at your palace this morning, I also accidentally ran into him, and that’s when he told me everything that happened in the Forbidden Forest.”

Zhu Ge had just given him a lengthy explanation, but Bai Chen didn’t immediately respond as he took the time to think things over carefully.

It was unexpected when Zhu Ge suddenly said that he was quite close to Wu Jinhai, and the two of them even met each other before Zhu Ge arrived at Bai Chen’s palace this morning.

But, Bai Chen still remembered that Wu Jinhai had indeed separated from him in the forest, and he had no idea where the masked man had gone after that.

.....

It was possible that the man had left the forest earlier than him, and it was also possible that the man had run into Zhu Ge this morning.

It did make sense, but Bai Chen was still bothered by something. “You said that Wu Jinhai had told you everything that happened in the forest last night, but when I asked you how you got information about the incident earlier, you told me that you heard about it from the palace maids. So, did you lie to me?” He asked the black-haired man while narrowing his eyes.

He remembered when Zhu Ge suddenly found out that the Beast Hunting Event was canceled due to the incident that happened in the forest last night, and when he asked the man about it, Zhu Ge calmly replied that he got the information from the palace maids.

The red-robed man didn’t look like he was lying at the time, but now Bai Chen was suspicious of the man after hearing another version of the man’s story. It seemed that Zhu Ge was inconsistent, and Bai Chen couldn’t help but think that the man was lying to him.

The pair of blue eyes did not leave the pair of brown eyes even for a second, and the owner carefully tried to see what was hidden in Zhu Ge’s pair of eyes.

For a moment, he could see that Zhu Ge was a little anxious, but then the man sighed as he looked away from him. “I did lie earlier because I didn’t want to reveal my relationship with Wu Jinhai at first,” he finally answered without looking at the brown-haired man.

Hearing the answer, Bai Chen furrowed his brows. “Why don’t you want to reveal your relationship with Wu Jinhai? What kind of relationship do you have with him? Is he your client in the Red Pavilion or something?” Once again, he attacked the taller man with questions.

This time, Zhu Ge burst out laughing after hearing his questions. “Do you think someone like Wu Jinhai will become a client in the Red Pavilion?” He asked while looking at the Prince in amusement. “And Wu Jinhai isn’t even gay, so why should he be my client in the Red Pavilion?”

Bai Chen reflectively snorted when he heard Zhu Ge’s answer. Wu Jinhai also told him that he was straight, but the two of them had fun together in the Forbidden Forest last night.

The forest was dangerous, but they still had time to eat each other’s lips, and they even helped each other to feel pleasure. What kind of straight man would do such a thing?

The memory flashed in his mind again, and Bai Chen immediately shook his head to push the crazy moment he had with Wu Jinhai from his mind. For some reason, he felt extremely guilty towards Zhu Ge when he could even do such a thing with another man.

‘What? Why should I feel guilty towards Zhu Ge? It’s not like I have a relationship with Zhu Ge!’ Bai Chen immediately scolded himself for the crazy thought that was going through his head.

“So, Wu Jinhai isn’t your client? Is he your friend or what?” Bai Chen returned to his serious mode after he managed to clear his mind of unnecessary thoughts.

“Mhm, you can say that,” replied Zhu Ge.

“Did you start your friendship with him when your family was rich?” Another question came from Bai Chen when he remembered that Zhu Ge originally came from a rich family.

He assumed that the Prince of Wu Li would only be friends with someone who had money or high status in the empire, so his head immediately came up with a theory.

But, the next thing he heard from the taller man was laughter, and he ended up frowning once more.

Perhaps Zhu Ge could understand that Bai Chen might think that his laughter was strange, so he immediately explained, “Yes, I met Wu Jinhai for the first time when my family was rich, and that’s how we started our friendship, and I thought I was too lazy to tell you the details.”

Bai Chen also didn’t think that he needed to listen to the details, and he assumed that it was enough for him to confirm that Zhu Ge did indeed have a relationship with Wu Jinhai. Perhaps the two of them were close friends, and that was why Bai Chen could feel the familiarity between them.

‘Some people say that people who spend a lot of time together will eventually resemble each other, so maybe that’s what happened to Zhu Ge and Wu Jinhai,’ Bai Chen concluded.

“Don’t talk about Wu Jinhai for now,” Zhu Ge suddenly spoke again when he saw Bai Chen didn’t respond to his story. “Let’s continue the conversation about us. Do you want to marry me or not? I’m willing to fight for you if you want to marry me.”

After going around in circles, their conversation returned to square one, and they had to talk about marriage one more time.

It seemed that Zhu Ge had no intention of changing his mind, and Bai Chen anxiously bit his lower lip as he tried to consider the man’s wishes.

‘I can’t marry a girl from the Black Werewolf Clan anymore, so I won’t be receiving support from that clan. If I marry Zhu Ge, maybe I will be able to get the support of the Wu Li Empire because he is friends with the eldest Prince of Wu Li, right?’ Bai Chen carefully weighed the pluses and minuses, but when he turned his gaze to look into Zhu Ge’s eyes once more, he suddenly could only see good things waiting for him ahead.

Thus, he firmly answered the question, “Alright, I will marry you, Zhu Ge.”
